It’s that time of the year again. Soon, we will be hosting numerous parties and celebrating with all our friends one more time. So let’s see some of the classic and easy-to-make cocktails recipes perfect for any party.
Old fashioned
Let’s start with this classic recipe of the old fashioned. This cocktail has existed for almost two centuries now, and it still has a strong fanbase. Of course, old fashioned may not be everyone’s favorite. It’s bittersweet with a strong alcoholic taste. Yet, often the appreciation for a good old fashioned comes with age. So depending on the people you invite and the type of party you want to have, old fashioned can pleasantly surprise your guests.
The classic recipe consists of four simple ingredients: spirits, bitters, water, and sugar. Choose bourbon (classic) or whiskey (modern) for the spirits and Angostura for the bitters. Now, for the sweet part, add granulated sugar for the texture, or syrup for a quicker fix. Mix the sugar with a teaspoon of water. Oh, and don’t forget to add a large piece of ice cube to the glass before serving.
Negroni
Negroni stands right next to the old fashioned on the list of classic cocktail recipes. It’s almost as well-known and equally loved around the globe. It’s bitter and dry, yet with some nice floral notes and a delicate taste. You don’t need much to make a perfect Negroni. It requires only gin, dry vermouth, and Campari. Mix all three ingredients in equal parts and add some orange peel for the garnish. You are done!
Moscow Mule
Another party-goer, Moscow Mule, is super easy to make and will satisfy even the pickiest cocktail drinkers. So, all you need is vodka and some ginger ale or beer, along with a splash of lime juice. The proportions will depend solely on how strong you want your cocktail to be. By the way, you can try making ginger beer at home to make this cocktail extra special. Don’t forget to serve it with ice and in a cold glass (steel cups will be ideal).
Martini
Martini always sounds so fancy, so classy. It is almost disappointing to learn how simple the recipe behind this famous word is. However, it is a good reminder to appreciate simple things in life, like a good glass of homemade martini. So, to make one, you only need vodka or gin of your choice and about a tablespoon of vermouth, preferably dry. That’s it! Of course, there is also a very popular dirty martini, where, once again, the name is more promising than the recipe. To mix a dirty martini, add one tablespoon of olive brine to the glass and stir. Your dirty martini is done. Though, if you are feeling really fancy today, you can also make chocolate, strawberry, and other kinds of modern martini recipes, adding fresh ingredients or liquor to your taste.
Aperol Spritz
Aperol spritz is a rather modern but already well-known party cocktail. It is super fast in the making and tastes delicious regardless of your mixology skills. So, get Aperol, a bit of soda, and prosecco. You can add Aperol and prosecco in equal amounts or use 1:1.5 proportions of the spirits. In any case, the drink will be refreshing, somewhat bitter, and 100% delicious. Add some orange peel as the garnish to top it off.
French 75
Who said you need a good reason to open up a bottle of champagne? French 75 is here to debunk that myth. For this recipe, you need a full glass of champagne mixed with a shot of gin, about a tablespoon of syrup, and a squeeze of lemon. That’s all you need to create this celebratory drink!
Piña Colada
There is nothing wrong with some retro classic once in a while. Piña Colada has stood the test of time and is still going strong. Why wouldn’t it? It tastes like tropics in a sip. However, don’t repeat the mistakes of many and drink too many of these too fast. Even though it tastes rather sweet than strong, it’s really both. The masked alcohol taste makes it too easy to forget about the rum underneath all that sweetness. So people tend to overestimate themselves. To make Piña Colada, you need rum, preferably white, coconut milk, and pineapple juice in 1:1:3 proportions. Add some pineapple and heavy cream on the top or as a garnish if you’re in the mood for it.
Margarita
Margarita is the ultimate party cocktail. Even if it’s a solo party at your house. A good margarita has the power to bring instant fun and joy into any room. Of course, it has probably something to do with tequila. That’s one spirit you want to be careful around. So, to make a sick margarita, you need tequila (better silver but gold will do too), lime juice, and Cointreau (an orange liqueur). Mix everything in 2:1:1 proportions with some ice in a blender. Your margarita is done! Also, honor the tradition and decorate the rim of a glass with salt.
Gimlet
Yet another classic on our list, gimlet, can easily become your all-time favorite. It doesn’t require any fancy ingredients, is fast and easy to make, tastes great, and, well, gets the job done, so to say. Overall, it is a perfect choice for a party cocktail. So, you need vodka or gin for the spirit, some sugar syrup, and lime or lemon juice. That’s it! Mix it at 3:1:1 proportions or to your liking. Add some lemon to the glass for a fancier look.
Classic mulled wine
Today, there are plenty of variations on the classic recipe of mulled wine. Yet, nothing is better than good old-fashioned hot-spiced wine, especially since it’s so simple in the making. You only need a bottle of (preferably) red dry wine, some honey, oranges, and spices. The latter should include cinnamon sticks, cloves, and star anise. These are the bare minimum ingredients for the drink. However, most people usually have some additions they fancy, like raisins, a bit of brandy, cardamom pods, etc.
To make life easier, you can find plenty of mulled wine spice mixtures in any shop, especially around Christmas. So, read what they have to offer, buy one and follow the instructions on the package. Overall, it’s surely one way of how to enjoy work from home. Don’t overdo it, though! Oh, and never boil the wine.
